This green smoothie recipe is my absolute favorite. I was not always a fan of green smoothies, mostly due to the fact that it was…well…green.

Enjoy this easy and delicious green smoothie that is packed with vitamins and antioxidants. #greensmoothie, #healthybreakfast, #healthylunch, #easytomake, #delicioussmoothie, #mealreplacement

A few years ago, I was working a job that required me to spend hours in my car. Without a way to heat up food and not having the dexterity to eat a salad without throwing lettuce everywhere, I needed a healthy alternative.

My answer was to find a smoothie that would pack a punch with vitamins along with plenty of fruits (and their leafy green friends). This healthy smoothie started my mornings off right and provided me with a lot of antioxidants. Perfect for fighting off colds and illnesses. As a teacher, I really need the extra boost.

Still Unsure?

I was a little hesitant at first at the thought of drinking spinach. I admit that before I took the first sip I made a face just anticipating that it would taste like salad in a cup. I was relieved to discover that not only was it delicious, I couldn’t taste the spinach at all. Blended in with the fruit, yogurt, and almond milk, there was no hint of a spinach taste.

The great thing about this (or any) smoothie, is that you can easily substitute ingredients based upon your taste. Try using yellow or green fruits when using spinach. Apples are a good option as well as kiwi.

I personally don’t like to mix berries with spinach just because it’s not visually appealing to look at. The green becomes something entirely different. Instead, I save the berries for strawberry banana or mixed berry smoothies.

The Ingredients

For this recipe, you will need spinach, greek yogurt (plain or vanilla), almond milk, a ripe banana, and frozen mangos and pineapple. Some people may like to add a few ice cubes to thicken it up but I find it’s not necessary if you use frozen fruit.

It’s a Good Time to Try Something New

Now that the holidays are behind us, it’s a great time to create healthier eating habits. Drinking this green smoothie gives you a jump start to your morning routine and starts your day off right.

When I’m home in the summer months or on weekends, I like to drink a green smoothie in place of my lunch because it’s quick and easy to make. The protein in the shake gives me energy to burn and I love the feeling I get when I know I’m putting something healthy in my body.
